Rhode Island Democratic Gubernatorial Candidate: President Obama 'Can Take His Endorsement and Shove It'
October 25, 2010 8:19 AM
Jake Tapper and Ann Compton report:
This morning on WPRO Radio Providence, Democratic Rhode Island gubernatorial candidate Frank Caprio, whom President Obama has not endorsed, lashed out.
“I never asked President Obama for his endorsement and what’s going on here is really Washington insider politics at its worst,” Caprio said, sounding livid. “He can take his endorsement and really shove it as far as I am concerned.”
"it’s just Washington insider politics at its worst," Caprio also said.
President Obama has not endorsed Caprio or independent Lincoln Chafee, a former Republican colleague in the US Senate who endorsed President Obama in the 2008 campaign.
Deferring to his friendship with former Sen. Lincoln Chafee, the former Republican senator currently an independent gubernatorial candidate who endorsed the president in 2008, the president has not endorsed Caprio.
Recent polls indicate that Caprio and Chafee are in a tight race.
According to the Providence Journal, Caprio was unaware that the president would not be endorsing him until a reporter told his campaign the news over the weekend.
President Obama will visit Rhode Island this afternoon, touring the facilities of American Cord & Webbing in Woonsocket and delivering remarks at two receptions in Providence, R.I., raising money for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.
However, Caprio told a Providence news conference that he is no longer going to attend President Obama’s official small business event in Woonsocket to which he was invited as a local official, or to a DCCC fundraiser being held at the Providence Convention Center.
Caprio charged that the president is “coming into Rhode Island treating us like an ATM machine. I will wear it as a badge of honor and a badge of courage that he doesn’t want to endorse me as a Democrat."

President Obama spent his time campaigning for DEMOCRATS NOT REPUBLICANS DISGUISED AS DEMOCRATS! Why would he want to waist his time on some jerk who doesn't have the vocabulary or MORALS for that matter to come back with a better choice of words, just shows his lack of intelligence and respect. It's like that old story about the guy that gets rejected by some girl and he tells his buddies "she doesn't like MEN"! NO! A-HOLE! Why don't you get Sarah Palin to campaign for you and see "how that's works for ya"!

Republicans are science denialists.
Most republicans don't believe in plate tectonics either.
Its insane.
Why would anyone vote Republican???

sick of the criticism,
I can read, I can reason, and I'm not going to give Ms. Clinton credit for things that I haven't heard about. You can't assume that everybody is uneducated.

Gee, Caprio sounds so professional.

I can't believe people in RI are paying 7500.00 a plate to eat with Obama ...
- JB in West Warwick

Obviously all those people are rich Republicans who are part of the corporatist elite who run the country!!! /sarcoff
What's funny is you couldn't find enough Republicans in RI to fill the RI Convention Center period, never mind find that many who can fork over $7500. I wonder how many attendees are current or former state workers?

No, last Winter wasn't one of the COLDEST, it had record PRECIPITATION which is caused by moisture in the air which in turn is caused by WARMER THAN NORMAL air gathering moisture and then colliding with cold air.

Look, it's simple. Weather isn't climate, unless it can be spun to support the AGW story. Got it? Here are just a few weather events that are "consistent with AGW theory":
Excessive heat, excessive cold, droughts, floods, too much snow, too little snow, abnormally long stretches of normal weather, too many hurricanes, too few hurricanes, sea level rise, any change in the rate of sea level rise, volcanoes, tornadoes, earthquakes, record Arctic sea ice extent (record for 30 years, that is), but NOT record Antarctic sea ice extent, increased mental illness, depression, large poison ivy plants, weak shells in shellfish, strong shells in shellfish, etc. ad nauseum. See? It's simple.

There was no Tea Party during the Bush years because there were no trillion-dollar deficits and the federal government had not taken over the auto companies and the nation's health care.

Republicans are liars and will do anything to win. No to Republicans. Remember the 8 years of BS. Where was the tea party during this time of crisis?....... Vote Smart!

Obama did the same thing and helped make it possible for Lieberman to stay in office. It was pretty despicable then too.

I should have added, I wonder how long it will take for him to show up on FOX?

This kind of intemperate reaction shows this man is not fit for office.

To Democrat office-holders:
The reason we are going to rout you is that we made it abundantly, repeatedly and forcefully clear to you that we did not want Obamacare. You knew very well that we did not want it, but you rammed it through anyway. You are going to pay a steep price for your arrogance.

Our Greatest Smartest Clueless Leader pB0 did endorse a Dem, a Rep turned Dem, in Spector, and even tried to buy out a candidate to clear his way. Who said pB0 is not loyal?
Only he miscalculated, again, because his is a GSCL after all.

Dear race-baiters
Give it up. As liberals taught us, nothing about the Presidency is off limits.
Do any of you remember the treatment of George W. Bush? By the media? Or by anti-war protestors?
What happens if we want to hang Obama in effigy? Like was done to Bush numerous times?
Posted by: obama=one hit wonder | Oct 25, 2010 6:11:01 PM
I can't believe people in RI are paying 7500.00 a plate to eat with Obama, what about all the people out of work here who can;t afford to eat on a daily basis, there are no jobs, and people are losing houses daily how about helping out those people instead of the person who never has to worry about where his and his family;s next meal will come from, or will never be forclosed on his prize possession his home, Where was Obama when we all got flooded, and where is he when we all need jobs. Yeah that's what I thought!!!!
Posted by: JB in West Warwick | Oct 25, 2010 6:09:54 PM
Just another person disrespecting the President .I don't care what you want to say about playing the race, no President has been so disrespected as this one I don't care how you want to spin it . He would never has said that about a white President .
Posted by: Carol | Oct 25, 2010 6:06:41 PM
I would not vote for him.
Posted by: Loraine | Oct 25, 2010 5:52:16 PM
Ask the HRC about Obama. he will come take your money and say nice things, but then when its time for him to work for you....he gives it you! and not in a nice way.
Obama has a history of taking and promising things while pursuing his own liberal progressive agenda to spread the wealth.

There shall be no cap-and-trade in my lifetime.
Forty-nine percent (49%) of respondents say they would vote for their district’s Republican congressional candidate, while 40% would opt for his or her Democratic opponent.
Even more worrisome for Democrats, however, is the finding that among the voters who are most closely following the midterm elections Republicans hold a 56% to 38% lead.
Eight days...

Perhpas Mr Caprio did not DESERVE the endorsement of an intelligent, classy individual like Prez O!! Based on this incident, and his very intelligent attitude, I wouldn't vote for him!!

You are right. Cap'n Trade goes in to remission on Tuesday. Like herpes, it'll flare up from time to time but it will never be allowed to progress(ive) to a health threatening stage.

I live in southeastern Connecticut, so I get to hear the ads for both states. I'm a registered Democrat, but I'd be voting for Chaffee. I'm hoping Rhode Island voters are smart enough to tell Caprio: "Take your political career and shove it!" He and Linda McMahon would make a lovely couple.

@Skip
So you want to legislate profit margins in the coal industry?
Cap'n Trade dies next Tuesday. You need a new plan.
Meanwhile, we'll throw another lump of coal on the fire.

Another article you won't read on ABC:
Rep. Jim Moran, the longtime Democrat incumbent in Virginia’s 8th district, unleashed a firestorm of controversy this week when he disparaged the service of millions of troops and veterans. Moran diminished the value of their service by implying that the sacrifices and service our troops give while on active duty did not count as “public service” in the same way that elected officials are public servants. The statement shocked and offended millions of veterans around the country as well as patriots who all agree that military service is a more pure and essential public service than being a politician!
Moran was at a private meeting with other Democrats, deriding his opponent, Republican Patrick Murra, when he said this:
“What [Republicans] do is find candidates, usually stealth candidates, that haven’t been in office, haven’t served or performed in any kind of public service. My opponent [Murray] is typical, frankly.”
In reality, COLONEL Patrick Murray is a 24 YEAR ARMY VETERAN! A veteran with a decades-long record of defending our country deserves better! Let’s give Colonel Patrick Murray all the support we can muster!

Ahhh...the Dictator Obama thinks he doesn't need the little dems no more. Hitler did the same to his supporters, used them, and then chewed them up when he was done with them.
Posted by: IndependentVoice | Oct 25, 2010 3:32:53 PM
What's with these politicians in the northeast? A Republican said he'd tell Obama to "go to hell" and now this yahoo is telling the president to "shove it". I'm not race baiting or playing the race card but it is pretty obvious that this president has been verbally abused, assaulted and disparaged more so than any of his white predecessors including Bush Jr.

"And your solution is to raise the price of coal"
I'm calling for putting a price on carbon emissions not artificially raising the price of coal, there is an important difference. It is the standard mantra of the right-wing that cap and trade is going to raise energy prices for consumers dramatically. For those who are genuinely interested however there are provisions in most of these plans preventing energy producers and other big polluters from just dumping most of the costs onto consumers.

fedup11. *. Unless you want a Greece, France, Portugal and UK meltdown brought on by socialism, you'd better get on board with limited government and policies that favor business (the private sector). "*** You DO realize that the crash of the U.S. economy (which was well underway long before Bush left office) was the main factor in the crash/decline of economies around the world, right? Oh, I guess you don't, since if you did, you would not arguing in favor of the same policies which brought this collapse about as a way to FIX IT. Duh.

I'm an Independent that voted for Obama. I just early voted -- almost straight Republican. That I said -- telling the President of the United States "to shove it".... That is over the top IMO.

I agree BO should be loyal to his party mainly because they passed almost every stupid destructive idea his tiny tiny mind came up with. But he is a loser and has no business in that office making that kind of money. We are being seriously overcharged by this guy in the form of a salary. With his knowledge he should be getting 8.00 an hour for 25 hours a week. Reflecting the actual time he tries to do his Presidential duties.

Caprio shouldn't be endorsed by ANYone with that kind of despicable behavior. There were many different ways to handle his disappointment and the unprofessional comment would turn me off no matter what party candidate I wanted to vote for. BUT, he is getting good press! Those who 'hate' Obama are slobbering over this press release.

I find it amazing folks think the economic policies of the left actually favor its citizens. Unless you want a Greece, France, Portugal and UK meltdown brought on by socialism, you'd better get on board with limited government and policies that favor business (the private sector). None of which, you'll find from Dems. Big government can only screw up a situation; it’s incapable of fixing anything. Think Community Revitalization Act of 1977. It set the stage for 25 years of manipulating mortgage loans by CONGRESSS until it all crashed. I am not wealthy but I know self reliance can be achieved instead of becoming a slave to a too powerful government. Life is good, but only if you can keep the professional politicians and excessive number of bureaucrats on a tight leash.

Dumb move, Frank. I am a LIFELONG Democrat, and I actually considered supporting you, mainly for your history with the Big Dog in 1992. Now I'm definitely supporting Chafee. Besides, the way I see it, we need less folks who will just sign "every lefty bill" or "every righty bill," and will instead legislate what they think is right for their state without worrying about losing support from the Congress or their own party and whatnot. And they ought to do it with class.
